Lindy Hop

So, what's Lindy Hop anyways?

It's often called the original swing dance. Lindy Hop evolved in Harlem in the late 20's from dances like Charleston, Black Bottom and many others, back in a time when going out dancing was the even of the week. New steps and dances were being created all the time, and Lindy Hop not only stood the test of time, it became one of the most popular dances in the world! Legend has it that an amazing contest-winning dancer at the time, nicknamed Shorty George for his stature, was the originator of the name "Lindy Hop." Lindy Hop began as an African-American partner dance and spread around North America. Popular all the way into the forties and even fifties, Lindy Hop can be danced to medium, fast and even slow swing music.

We've assembled a bunch of videos to help you understand what Lindy Hop is all about!
